May On The Yellowstone
Night gives way to morning on the Yellowstone River. As the last cool days of spring give way to the warmth of summer, the fog rises, and the world begins anew. The well-worn trail leads to the river’s edge, providing evidence of the frequent visitors—animal and human. Soon the river residents will wake. In one breath, in the quiet, all is still but the rising fog and the slowly passing river itself.
New Year’s Day
The ice cracks, pops, and whistles as the sun rises. It illuminates the sparkling frost and ushers in a new day. A new year. Beneath the ice, the water still moves along in optimism. Despite the cold, life continues, and with it all the possibilities of an impending spring.
Sharp Sunrise
The yucca and prairie grass stand to greet the morning in Big Sky Country. The clouds rest in their expanse. The sun stretches its rays to touch the land. One last moment of stillness. One last hush, before the passing clouds and stirring breeze speak to a world that is always in motion.
Missouri River Fog Dance
Fog dances across the Missouri River landscape, glowing in the light of early morning. It skims and swirls atop the surface before disappearing into the atmosphere. The land left to the sunshine, the trees and river grasses bask in the warm colors of autumn.

The sun rises to salute a May morning over the Yellowstone. The river reflects back its greeting while the water moves on and a lone goose captures the moment from the sky. The low water leaves deep cuts in the banks and renders the rocks bare. Do not underestimate the power and potential of the river. Any day, any time, it can rush its banks again.
